The Velvet Fluegeltones

Beginning in the mid-1960's, trumpeter Dick Behrke, a pianist and arranger for Bobby Darin, formed a group of studio musicians into King Richard's Fluegel Knights. The albums they recorded were easy listening jazz arrangements capitalizaing on the popularity of the Lounge sound embodied by Herb Alpert and Esquivel.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, members of the Velvet Fluegeltones were inspired by these albums and arrangments, eventually coming together post Covid with the purpose of introducing the sounds of King Richard to a new audience rediscovering the funky sounds of the 1960's in the modern era.
